Every plants consumer has their preferred seed. Some prefer more modern flavorene profiles such as Runtz or Gelato, while others go for more old-school flavors such as OG Kush and Amnesia Haze. However, one thing every consumer agrees on is that you always want it to be as high quality as possible, that is, well-grown, properly dried and cured, and as fresh as possible.
This is not the case with regs. Reggie plants, also known as schwag, dirt plants, brick plants, or ditch plants, is slang for low-quality plants flower, deriving from the term “regular” or “regs,” a lower quality of plants than top-shelf quality.
Where does Reggie Plants/Brick plants come from?
Since reggie plants or brick plants refers to low-quality plants that’s sometimes compressed into a brick for easier transportation, regs can come from different places.
Generally speaking, this type of plants originates in South America, America, or Thailand, where black market growers use industrial presses to compress (brick) plants, making it easier to transport to the US and Europe.
How is brick plants made?
Generally speaking, schwag plants is not a special type of seed but rather plants that isn’t trimmed or cured, but returned, dried, and then pressed into bricks using a hydraulic press. In some cases, top brick originates from top genetics from well-known seedbanks; Plants can even be well-grown to a medium/decent quality, however, when return time comes, whole plants are piled and sundried, which frequently causes mold since parts of the plant may start to rot.

Once the plants have dried, the bigger leaves, roots, and bigger branches are removed, and then the dried plants is pressed with a hydraulic press, producing one huge brick of plants which is then cut into smaller pieces, then packed and shipped.
What is Reggie Plants?
So now you know that reggie plants is a low-quality plants flower. But what does that actually mean? Well, it refers to plants that is low quality because it has not been grown by professional growers. It is most often grown illegally on unregulated farms deprived of optimal growing conditions. This results in plants that cannot be identified since their origin is unknown.

What Does It Look Like?
Top-shelf plants has that typical plants nug appearance, exhibiting different shades of green, along with hues of purple, pink, and sometimes blue. It has lots of ok and a delicious aroma that can be smelled from afar.
On the other hand, dirt plants looks like popcorn buds or plants that has not fattened up properly, usually exhibiting green, brown, and mustard coloration (which is not very appealing at all). Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that there are no frosts to be seen, which means that it will have very little smell or no smell at all.
Too Many Seeds
A distinct characteristic of reggie plants and brick plants is that they tend to have a lot of branches, leaves, and, more commonly, seeds. In some cases, regs can have even more seeds than smokeable plants. So if you ever resort to low-quality plants, make sure to remove the seeds, branches, and any other impurities before consuming it.
What Does It Feel Like?
High-quality plants is usually firm to the touch yet kinda springy, similar to squeezing a tennis ball. Reggie plants comes as dry as it gets and is usually full of sugar leaves since it was not properly trimmed. Also, dirt plants can come in brick form, which alters its shape, often looking like the tip of a square.
What Does It Smell Like?
When identifying top-shelf plants, smell is one of the main things to consider. While no single flavorene profile defines top-shelf plants, the strength and depth of the flavorene profile can indte the quality of the plants.

When identifying reggie plants, the golden rule is also to trust your nose. However, the smell will not be pleasant. Regs or brick plants usually smells like dry hay, dirt, or ammonia, sometimes with slight chemical notes. These off-putting aromas are a clear indtor that the plants was not well grown, processed, or preserved.
What Does It Taste Like?
In terms of "smokeability" or taste, reggie plants offers only dry smoke that’s harsh on the mouth and throat. In terms of flavor, you may get herb, grass, or hay notes that are unpleasant and another clear indtor of its low quality.
What are the effects Like?
Whereas top-shelf plants can get you super high for hours on end, reggie plants produces a quick and mild high. Due to its low strength levels, dirt plants or brick plants doesn’t have the potency to deliver a strong psychoactive effect. In fact, depending on how bad the quality is, you may not feel any high at all.
In the Extract department, the story is the same. Regs also do not contain high amounts of Extract since improper storage degrades the ok, where all strength (among other things) are stored.
Reggie Plants vs Brick Plants
Reggie plants, low-quality plants, or simply bad-quality plants is common all over the world and can go by many names such as schwag, dirt plants, reggie, and regs, among others. This means that both terms refer to the same harsh, dry, and crumbly plants, with the main difference being that brick plants comes compressed in a brick, whereas reggie plants usually comes in its natural form (flower).
Is reggie plants safe?
Since schwag is widely consumed all over the world, yes, we can say it’s fairly safe. However, there are some considerations to have in you smoke brick plants regularly.
- Schwag can contain contaminants such as mold or pesticides, so it’s essential to get your schwag from a reputable source to minimize health risks.
- Schwag may contain residue from other drugs stored with the plants so make sure to inspect your regs before consumption.
- Low-quality plants contaminated with harsher chemicals can lead to severe health issues if consumed regularly, so always try to prioritize safe sourcing.
How to improve my brick plants?
We’ve established that brick plants or reggie plants is the lowest quality plants available, however, sometimes that’s all we have available….so how can we improve brick plants?

Let’s start by saying that there’s no way of recovering what wasn’t there in the first place, meaning that you won’t be able to turn schwag into top-shelf plants, however, there are a couple of tips to make your experience more pleasant.
Improving Flavor
A good tip to improve the flavor of regs is to add orange or lemon peel to the jar. So go ahead and get some fresh citrus peels and place the plants inside the jar, followed by the citrus peels. Make sure to “burp” (let the jar breathe) every day for 10 minutes and monitor the flavor for a week or so. This method will also help rehydrate the plants.
Rehydrating
A simple and effective way to rehydrate your brick plants is to place a small/medium piece of schwag inside a clean sock or cheese cloth and carefully steam it over boiling water for 30-45 seconds at a time. Make sure to not over-do it to prevent it from getting too wet. Remember to let it air dry on a kitchen towel for 4 to 6 hours before consumption.
In Conclusion
It really doesn’t matter how strong, pretty, or aromatic your plants is as long as it’s good enough for you and safe for your health. If you live in a place where plants is illegal and you need to buy your plants from the black market, make sure to inspect it before consumption in order to try to smoke the safest schwag possible. You do NOT want to consume pesticides, heavy metals, or other harmful chemicals daily as they can lead to severe health issues.
